SMS Verification & Consent

LocaLoyal sends one-time passcodes (OTPs) by SMS to verify your phone number when you create an account. This page documents how users opt in, the exact disclosure shown in the app, the message users receive, and our policies on consent and data sharing. It is provided as a public reference for users and for messaging compliance review.

Campaign use case

Two-factor authentication (2FA) / Account verification. Transactional messages only. No marketing, promotional, or recurring messages are sent under this campaign.

How users opt in

Inside the LocaLoyal mobile app, after creating an account using email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google, users are prompted to add a phone number before submitting their first product scan. The phone-entry screen displays the disclosure shown below directly above the Send code button.

By tapping Send code, you agree to receive a one-time SMS verification code from LocaLoyal. Msg & data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on login and scan activity (typically 1 message per request). Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.

When the user taps Send code, that tap constitutes the user's explicit, affirmative consent to receive the SMS verification code. No SMS is sent unless the user has tapped this button.

Step-by-step

  1. User creates an account via email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google.
  2. User is prompted to add a phone number before submitting a first product scan.
  3. User enters their phone number on the screen shown above and reviews the disclosure.
  4. User taps Send code — this tap is the explicit affirmative consent.
  5. User receives a single SMS containing a 6-digit verification code.
  6. User enters the code in-app to complete verification.

A single transactional SMS is delivered after the user taps Send code:

Frequency

One SMS per verification request initiated by the user. Typical use is one to two messages per user during account setup, with occasional re-verification if the user signs in on a new device. No recurring or scheduled messages are sent.

Consent and data sharing

Mobile information (phone numbers and SMS opt-in data) is not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in consent is not transferred to or shared with any third party for any purpose.

Phone numbers are processed by Twilio, Inc. for the sole purpose of delivering the verification SMS, under a service-provider relationship. See the full Privacy Policy for details.
